Six disciplines

Pick the kind of door you need.

Each discipline has its own page of work and its own way of starting.

Gray and brown concrete hallway

Houses, courtyards and small public buildings, drawn around one good door and the light that comes through it.

A living room filled with furniture and a painting on the wall

Rooms for living, sleeping and eating, planned from the threshold inwards so the first step feels right.

A couple of people standing in a room

Commissioned series, books and exhibitions, shot on film and printed by hand in our own darkroom.

Red padded theater chairs

Short films, title sequences and cinema identities, cut slowly and lit like rooms.

A close up of a type of metal type

Type, books, signage and identities for people who make or show things.

Two white ceramic bowls

Tableware, lamps and furniture made in small runs with workshops we know by name.

How we work

Three doors between a brief and a finished thing.

Every project passes the same three doors. You are in the room for each one.

01

Listen and measure

We visit, measure and listen. You tell us how you want to live, work or show, and we write it down in plain words.

Door 01

02

Draw the threshold

Three concept sketches, each starting from a different way in. You choose one and we develop it into drawings, models and prints.

Door 02

03

Build and open

We manage the makers, the site and the printers, and stay until the last lamp is on and the door opens.

Voices

What people say after they have walked through.

They spent a week just looking at the site. The house they drew is the only one that could have been built there.

Claire Aubry

Owner, House of Nine Arches

Every room in our hotel has a story now, and every guest tells it differently.

Théo Marchal

General manager, Maison Linden

The red door made a one-screen cinema feel like the place to be on a Tuesday.

Ilse Van Damme

Programmer, Cinema Rood

They found the letters in our own drawers and gave them back to us at any size.

Bram Goossens

Head of collections, Museum of Print

Our workshop was in the credits, not the small print. That mattered.

Manon Velay

Owner, Atelier Verre et Terre

Forty prints, one winter and nobody rushed. The show looks it.
