Notes on lime plaster

Three things we learned from finishing eighteen hotel rooms in lime.

Lime plaster is slow, forgiving and impossible to hurry. We used it in every room at Maison Linden and learned some lessons the hard way.

It moves with the light

Lime is never one colour. It looks pale in the morning and pink by evening, which is why we test every sample on the actual wall.

Let it cure

Rushing the cure gave us patchy walls in the first room. After that we allowed four weeks between plaster and paint in every room.
