Overview

A one-minute film, a poster system and a set of illuminated door signs for a cinema with a single screen.

One screen, one film, one door

The cinema shows one title every evening. So the identity is a door: a red one that opens on the same frame every night and shows a different film behind it.

We shot the opening sequence in the empty auditorium at dawn, with the projector as the only light.

Signs that switch on

The poster system is a single typeface, a single frame and a date. Posters are printed on newsprint and pasted up by hand each week.

Above the entrance, an illuminated sign lights up one letter per screening hour. When the door sign is fully lit, the film has started and the doors close.
